Wind energy costs and benefits

A series of in-depth, independent and thorough studies are required to determine the environmental and system impact a proposed wind project will have in any geographic area. It’s responsible to look at wind energy costs and benefits before moving forward with building a wind project. There are two primary areas to look at:

1. Economic costs and benefits of wind energy

• technological advances
• volatility in fuel prices
• hidden costs of fossil fuels

2. Ecological costs and benefits of wind energy

• Habitat degradation/destruction avoidance
• Bird and bat mortality concerns
